Cutenews emoticons problem

So I installed Cutenews yesterday, everything works fine and I'm glad, but when I deleted the emoticons from the cutenews/data/emoticons map and uploaded new ones, it didn't work. I also added the names of the emoticons in the System Configuration part in Cutenews itself, and they still don't work.
I really don't know what to do anymore as I tried everything that might solve the problem out already. I deleted the .htaccess and uploaded a blank index.html page, I re-installed Cutenews, I chmod'ed everything again to 777, but nothing works!

If you have an idea of what it might be; please let me know! It's so annoying not knowing what the problem is.

When you added the names of the emoticons, did you delete the names and everything of the old ones in the configuration?

I don't know why they wouldn't be working.. To replace the smilies in my CuteNews, I just deleted the default images and uploaded my own, naming them the same as the old ones so I didn't have to edit any of the files.
