Tables and a layout

Hi,

What i want to do is make a layout with a header and a patterned background with tables but i want the whole layout centered aswell. I can do tables a little but i need someone to show me how i'd get it all set out because it really confuses me.
If you look at closetoblue.net/home.html (my site) i basically want it set out like that but with tables and not iframes for the left and right and i don't want to be using a graphic to give the impression the layout is centered

If anyone could help me i'd be ever so greatfull because i've been wanting to know this for a long time but have never gotten any help with it

tables and iframes are two different things.
iframes can change content in their small area.
using tables only, you will have to reload a page into the full browser window.

I am going to still use an Iframe in the table to show my content but for the menu etc i just want tables. It looks much neater. Is it possible to fill a table background with an image to make it blend with the background under the table?
