'Sup guys? I have an extra hard drive that I want to put in. How would I do that? I am really confused because I have a CD burner and a 57x CD-ROM drive sharing one cable. I have one hard drive on one cable, and a floppy on another. I have three connectors on my motherboard. How would I connect my extra hard drive? I don't want to buy anything. Would I have to lose the burner? Any help THANKS!(not yelling, just showing my thanks)
Also, I have a Toshiba laptop running Windows 3.1. Can I update the hard drive to fit Windows 98 on it? It is VERY old.

Well, you need to get and IDE cable like the one that your CD Roms are on. It has to have 2 connectors on it. So, you can go to any computer store and get one for like 10 bucks, and just take out the old one, hook the hard drives up to the new one, and just plug it in where the old cable was. As far as actually installing the hard drive you should follow the user's manual.

But my dad said that because I have two CD-ROM drives it wouldn't work, due to the setup of the Masters and Slaves.

you can have a master and slave CD-rom and a master and slave harddrive. (i have 2 cd roms and 2 harddrives) You don't have to touch the cd roms, if they work then just leave them alone. in short, you should be able to hook them both up, go into the bios, set the primary slave and primary master to auto detech a harddrive and that should work. your 2 cd roms should be set as your secondary slave and secondary master. it's not that easy tho, just read the owners manual and it should walk you thru step by step what to do if you have 2 harddrives and what to do in the bios and all that... remember, computer illiterate people buy these things and hook them up themselves no problem LOL!
