Windows - Changing the GIMP Startup Image

Changing the GIMP Startup Image
WINDOWS
by iGeek

What you need
You will need the following for this tutorial:
  • Computer running Windows 2000/XP SP2
  • GIMP 2.2
That is pretty much it!

Overview
This tutorial will teach you how to change the GIMP startup image. When you start up GIMP, a dialog box appears and loads resources for the program. The image displayed is easily customizable and requires no outside program to access.

What to do
Open GIMP. Create a new image 400x300 pixels in size. Do what you want to this image. Now, while GIMP is still open (don't save the image yet), click Start >> Run. Type "c:" without the quotes. Click OK. Go to Program Files >> GIMP-2.0 >> share >> gimp >> 2.0 >> images. Rename "gimp-splash" to "gimp-splash1" without the quotes. Make sure it is still in PNG format. Close this window. In GIMP, click File >> Save As. Save it as "gimp-splash.png" in C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\images\. (Without the quotes). Close GIMP and restart it. You should see your image while GIMP loads.

Troubleshooting
Q) GIMP doesn't do anything when I try to open it!
A) You didn't save the image in the right place OR you didn't save it with the right name.
